I don't wear a watch. I stopped wearing a watch awhile back as it bothered my wrist as i continually hit it on the keyboard and wrist-rest and laptop. Don't worry though, i have plenty of time-keeping devices around to keep me inline.
My computer functions nicely as a clock as does the phone on my desk. There's a clock in the van, several clocks in the kitchen and at least one in each bedroom. The "Weeble Room" doesn't have a clock, but it has a computer. The living room has a TV with a TiVo brand digital video recorder (DVR).
Normally, while in the living room, to check the current time i need only to hit a button on the remote to pop-up the info-banner across the top of the screen. Last Sunday morning, this method stopped working.
That's right, the time on my Series 1 Tivo is wrong. It forgot to "spring forward". Ok, so it didn't forget. I have no doubt that the version of linux in that thing hasn't been updated in years and very likely that a DST patch does not exist.
So did i miss the recording of 24 last night? Nope. While the clock on the system is wrong, so are the show times. The net is that i still have a functioning DVR, just a very confusing show guide and a clock that's wrong.
The upside? It'll correct itself in about 3 weeks. :-) TiVo also included a system message to tell me about the issue and to reassure me that i wouldn't miss Lost.
Here's to hoping my aging TiVo lasts many more moons.
